LF200 / Re: Ideal weather conditions
« on: March 07, 2008, 10:20:04 AM »
When I was 19 or so I started in the oil patch (in the summers) as a surveyor/ navigator with Digicon Geophysical and several other smaller outfits that were looking for oil and natural gas in the Gulf so I  spent a lot of time in Fourchon, New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I have been to Shreveport as well but it has been a while.

It has been a while since I have spent any large amount of time in LA. My last trip down I was in New Orleans looking for LA 1 so I could get to Fourchon. This was two in the morning by the way. The only person who would help me find the highway was a this huge woman who was a prostitute. Her direction's were perfect.

So I can honestly say the our good ole southern hospitality even runs down to the prostitutes ;D ;D ;D

If I'm down there again I'll shoot you a PM and we can meet up but I don't think it will be anytime soon, unfortunately, I just don't have time to travel anymore..... :(

As I understand it he made the engine covers. He did a great job on that bike, I think I heard him say he sold it though. I think he is like me a little in that he would rather work on them than ride them ;D.

I don't know. I live in Alabama and it get just as hot. We had temps that reached 108F this last summer and I was riding a good bit then, I never noticed the bike getting too hot, but I was not idling that often either.

What part of LA are you from? I spend my fair share of time down there.

Basically the fairing is the only difference, some of them may make a little less hp, but the LF200-II that was being sold just before the LF200-III had the 163 fml just as the LF200-III

Here is a link to one,

http://mefast.com/LIFAN/MOTORCYCLE/LF200II/LF200II.html

Now there is a new LF200-B as Jim was describing (I think we posted about the same time). It is a completely different bike from the fairing, frame and engine. It looks faster than an Lf200-III but it is really a little slower as it make a little less power and is a little heavier but you can still mod it to get more power out of the engine.

I am opting for the larger displacement engines myself though, 200cc is not doing it for me anymore.

There are some sites that sell the LF200-II as the LF200-III. I like the old fairing as it is a two piece design though.

The different markings and logos are based on the branding requested by the importer. Most importers have their own naming scheme even though the bike is a Lifan LF200-III made in the Chongqing China Lifan factory.

As long as it is a LF200-III they are the same, an example of companies with the same bike would be Rabbit Scooters, T-Motor Sports, Hooper Imports and American Lifan.

Hope that helps.....

Well they could have released it and the shipping company did not pick it up until a few days later. I've now had two bikes from Rabbit and they were shipped very fast.

Also had one from TMS which was shipped very quickly.

Whenever I buy a form of transportation online I always give it three weeks, that is a fair amount of time for anyone.

In the future I would ask for Brian when you call Rabbit if you have had problems with his staff.

It might be too rich on the dual sport becuase of the exhaust, but on the sport bike it is just perfect for around 500ft in altitude.

The new exhaust I have will require at least a #125, maybe higher.... :)

Also there is another Chinese company (which I can't pronounce) that is finalizing epa/dot certification for a 400cc liquid cooled engine. This will be a major introduction along with the Lifan 400cc engine when it passes epa/dot.

The Tank Xi products are what impress me the most though. Although the Xi brand are Taiwanese bikes and not China bikes. The quality is really good. I have only researched the Xi 350 sport bike but the Dual sport looks good as well.

Also, and here is a little secret I found out, Xi will be offering a 500cc engine in a four wheeler. If only this engine can find it's way into street/dirt bike that would be great, but I'll take a 350cc for the time being.

I am wondering if Lifan will be trying to install the new 400cc v-twin in a sport bike later in the year. I have heard that they would in 2009 but I'm not sure what they are really planning, it is all just speculation at the moment.

I think the point to be made is that Lifan is about to be in a sea of EPA/DOT and CARB certified China  bikes, It will be interesting to see how they adjust their products price point this year and in early 2009.

Hi,

Even though you have a different bike they are still fairly close to our LF200-III so you might want to watch a few videos here,

I have started watching CCTV (Chinese Central Television, English version). They are the up and comers in the world, at least for the last few years :)
