Good points from this thread.  Most of the negative posts do seem to be from people who don't own a lifan.  They say they owned a Chinese bike...

  • many of the hate 'em group have never owned one
  • they're not top of the line but, if your looking for some cheap fun get it and to hell what others think/say
  • the thing runs great for her and it runs pretty good with me on it. I did have to put a new motor in it after she had run it through this 3' deep water hole all day long and ended up disinigrating the transmission in it, So after months of searching for parts or a motor i ended up calling Lifan In China to get a motor for it. The motor was so cheap $125.00 i bought two of them and the second one is still in the crate. She has about 1000 miles on it now and it still runs great for he rtype of riding. Hope this helps
  • been beating it up pretty well for the last year and have had no problems with it
  • I have bought a couple of these for my kids for riding around socal deserts. They are just fine. I've only replaced levers and grips on these bikes. Everything else is ok for kids.

Chit Chat / American Lifan vs Lifan
« on: August 31, 2007, 08:38:32 PM »
Found some good info about Lifan and the 200cc engine.

American Lifan and Lifan are not the same.

American Lifan will not warrantly grey market Lifan's from China.

Cheaper bikes may claim to have Lifan engines but they don't because they cost more.

Real Lifan 200cc engines are known as 163FML-2 OHC.  It has a stroke of 63.5 x 62.2mm which is relatively long and contributes to it's low RPM torque.

Some look almost the same but most of them are Jailing or Stannic short stroke engines, 63.0 x 43.0mm and 61x 49. 5mm. They may or may not have OHC and they are not up to Lifan Quality.

Chit Chat / Welcome!

Hey all, I am loving my LF200.  It has really surprised me.  I first bought it to get to work on a budget.  With the way people talk about Chinese motorcycles I am waiting for it to break.  But it won't! :D

Anyway, I plan to be posting a lot of information about the Lifan's here so if you own one please post up and let everyone know the good and the bad.

See you on the boards...
