LF200 / Transmission problems? Help!
« on: March 05, 2008, 02:50:30 PM »
My 2008 LF200-III has just 325 miles on the odometer (yes, miles not kilometers) and I am experiencing shifting issues and gear noise when rolling to a stop with the clutch in  (exagerated when I downshift through gears while slowing).  Any ideas?  Is the transmission bad?

Thanks, Almond!  I think you have covered most of it!  I have ordered an aluminum 34T 520 rear sprocket with some kind of bronze hard coating.  I also have a conical air filter and three jets on their way... 105, 110, 115.  At my altitude, I am gonna start with the 110.  If it is too rich, what kind of symptoms might I see?

I am changing out my tires, as well.  My bike came with a 80/100 front and a 100/90 rear.  I am putting on a 90/90 front (Cheng Shin Barracuda C926 from JC Whitney $29 or so) and a 120/80 rear (Metzeler ME1 from Ebay, $36 with shipping).

I also installed a trunk from JC Whitney as well.  The medium-sized trunk is a great size for this bike, it and mounts with two bolts without drilling any holes.  This is a great asset for riding my 6 yo!  I don't have to worry about her flying off the back!  It also gives her a great sense of security, and it doesn't even block the use of the handles on the sides of the luggage rack.   If you are interested, go to www.jcwhitney.com and search for item number ZX277021.

I bought my bike from T-motorsports through Ebay.  only a 30 day warranty, but the price was low.  Fast shipping and got my MSO the same day the bike arrived.

My bike was $1030 shipped to my door, and the shipping company threw in liftgate!
How long is the break-in period?  I have 120 mis on so far, and I am wondering how I should ride this for the rest of the break in period.  Is there a max speed I should ride?  Max RPM? How often should I change the oil?  I am trying to hit 200 mis in the first 30 days, but the weather is a little chilly here in Wyoming this time of year!   I have to admit... I pushed it to 70 mph once.  Probably took a few thousand mis off the life of the engine, eh?  I want to put Amsoil synthetic motorcycle oil in as soon as it makes sense. Anybody got an idea when that might be?  300 mis?  500 mis?

THANKS for everyone's help!
Shawn

Could someone with an intricate knowledge of Lifan-moto please create a list of links to instructions and images of the basic mods?

Carb jet  (oh yeah, and how far is this jet tightened?  All the way? )
Rear Sprocket
Rear Fender trim
Front sprocket replacement
Chain shortening
Pod/Conical air filter mounting
Exhaust drilling ( please explain in detail... do I drill through both outer and inner chambers? How many holes in each?  Can I do this with the muffler in place?)

Also, which nuts and bolts NEED loctite?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi, all!  120 mis on my 2008 LF200-III.

On my third oil change.  I've noticed that shifting gets REALLY hard when the oil is ready to change.... is that normal, or is that a break-in thing?  I was just guessing that the wet clutch may have problems when the oil fills up with wear particles.  What do you think?
