Help please my 7 year old 250B cruiser just cut out on me on the way to work! I bought her 6 months ago and was running good, there is no spark at the plugs, I checked the 12volts into the coils OK and tried a couple of new coils from a 250 virago but still no spark....boo hoo, anybody got any tips for checking the CDI igniter unit and timing switches? also is there any workshop manuals around that i can buy? I was really enjoying riding again after a long layoff so please help, cheers from Dorset biker

There's a Yamaha XV250 manual online here (http://www.gofastvideo.com/video/440/Yamaha-XV250-Shop-Manual).
Does your model have a side stand cutout switch? If so, that's the first thing I'd check. Pop it off, give it a good clean, check the condition of the wiring, and try bypassing it - sorry, I don't know which wires to short, but there won't be that many combinations to try.
If I can hear you cheering from up here in Glasgow, I'll know that's sorted it. ;)

epunds,
Also sheck the neutral safety switch and the cut off switch on the handle bar.

Presumably his bike cut out again in the middle of nowhere and he didn't make it home...
